2011 Camp Overview

2011 Camp Overview

We just wrapped up another great year of camp in Oklahoma.  It was a wonderful three days filled with motocross and Jesus.  Going into camp this year, we knew there was something special about this group of kids and staff and it did not fail.  This year we set a camp record of 55 campers.  For the first time, we had to shut down registration before the camp had even begun.

At the beginning of each chapel service at night, we were extremely blessed with a band from Victory Christian Church in Tulsa.  Asher Wood, huddle leader, led the band and worship for the night. It was a great transition to the learning experience for the night. Kevin Johnson blessed us with his presence as the Camp Chaplain.  On the first night of camp, he spoke about being a Race Changer and starting or renewing a relationship with Jesus. He continued the next day with the Race Changing Stance and Race Changing Team themes for the day. Since we have a three day camp, we combined these two topics into our second chapel meeting for a very moving service. Kevin Johnson hit on the topics of changing our outlook on life and the need to put ourselves in relation with the right friends. On the last day of camp, Kevin wrapped up the last chapel service with the theme of Race Changing Goal. He spoke about sharing your faith with the world and being a disciple to others.

Along with the awesome pro instructors that came out and gave their time all week, Trey Canard made a surprise appearance to the Wednesday night chapel service. Trey shed some light on his background and his family history. He then continued to encourage the younger riders to pursue their dreams, whether that be motocross or other activities. Trey then stated that it is crucial for us to remember that "We are not motocross racers that are Christians also, but instead we are Christians that get to ride dirt bikes."

We were blessed with an abundance of staff from pro instructors, huddle leaders, and adult leaders.  It was a blessing to have the abundance of volunteers.  We would like to specially thank all of the parents who volunteered with water bottles and the other tasks we threw upon them.  Also, to our huddle leaders: Ben Wood, Asher Wood, Dylan Postier, Greg Warford, Craig Davenport, Michael Conner, Matt Randolph, Kacey White, Elena Thomas, Curtis Rhodes, and to our adult huddle leaders: Jim Reid and Pam Sisco, and our pro instructors: Kevin Johnson, Robbie Reynard, Gavin Gracyk, Dennis Hawthorne, Brett Cue, TJ Sapp, Robbie Robertson, Greg Albertson, and Kevin Hawthorne.  Without these guys, the camp would not have ran as smooth as it did, but without Jim Reid, Camp Dean, Donita Povolny, National Director, Angie Storm, Food Coordinator, Angela Reid, Camp Administrator, and Troy Stevens, Trackside Coordinator, the camp would not have come to play in the beginning.

We look forward to seeing all of you again at the tracks in 2011 and at the 2012 Oklahoma FCA Motocross Camp.

Thanks,
Oklahoma FCA MX
